Financial requirements

You must provide financial documents such as a bank statement, bank slip, or certificate of deposit that clearly demonstrate you have sufficient funds to cover your tuition fees and living expenses for up to 9 months. These funds must be maintained for a continuous 28-day period, and this period must end within 31 days before the date you pay your online visa application fee.

For example, if your visa fee is paid online on 15 August, your financial documents must confirm that the required funds were held continuously for at least 28 days between 15 July and 15 August.

UKVI also accepts funds held in a fixed or frozen deposit account, provided the documents clearly confirm that the money was already held for the required 28-day period. Simply submitting an initial deposit receipt is not sufficient. You must also provide an updated certificate or statement confirming that the funds remained available during the relevant 28-day window before your visa application date. Please note that average balance certificates or bank letters are not acceptable.

The funds must be held in your own name, or in the name of your parents, or provided by an official sponsor. Funds held by any other third party, including relatives or friends, will not be accepted.

Proof of relationship

If the required funds are held in your parent’s name, you must provide official proof of your relationship. This can be demonstrated by submitting original documents such as a birth certificate or an adoption certificate, where applicable.

Additionally, a signed consent letter from your parent(s) or legal guardian(s) must be provided, clearly stating that they authorize you to use the funds for your tuition fees and living expenses in the UK.

For Tier 4 (General) applicants aged 16 or 17 (on the date of your online application) and Tier 4 (Child) applicants

You must provide a written consent letter from your parent(s) or legal guardian(s) confirming their permission to support your travel to the UK, your reception upon arrival, and your living arrangements during your stay.

For Tier 4 (Child) applicants only

If you are under 16 years of age, or under 18 and disabled, and you will be receiving full-time care in the UK from an adult who is not your parent or a close relative (such as a grandparent, sibling, step-parent, uncle, or aunt aged over 18), you must provide evidence that the appropriate UK local authority has been notified of these care arrangements.
